For our next post in our “5 Questions With” series we talk to Adam Marshand, Outreach Director at Educators 4 Excellence.
Educators 4 Excellence is a teacher-founded, teacher-led organization focused on ensuring the voices and ideas of teachers shape the policies that impact their classrooms and careers. My role as an Outreach Director is to organize like-minded teachers who believe that education policy is created without a critical voice at the table—the voice of classroom teachers, and who want to lend their voice to proposing policies that would better work for their students and their profession.
We enjoy meeting with any companies who share our work space but would be most interested in any companies that works in the education sphere, or anybody who work with teachers
Rocking out to music, a friendly smile from one of our Assemble neighbors, and sharing a Zen Moment every Monday. Any day where we are able to visit teachers in schools is a guaranteed productive and rewarding day.
The convenience of CTA and this workspace is amazing! As a group that was here early on, we’ve been so impressed with the upgrades, decorating, and thoughtfulness put into this great workspace. The lake view is also something we’re happy about. Also as a new non-profit to Chicago, it helps that we’re able to have our members here and join us for events (not always an option when we were downtown).
Answers from our three Outreach Directors
Adam: In Lakeview there is a quaint Irish pub called Brendan’s which is cozy, comfy, welcoming—who wouldn’t love it? I’ve celebrated my birthday there for 3 years now!
Becca: I always like to venture down to iO Chicago to perform or watch improve comedy. You can always find a good laugh there 🙂
Felicia: Rajun Cajun in Hyde Park is my go to spot for some delicious grub. The tandoori chicken and the veggie samosas are amazing and perfect for a day at nearby Nichols Park.
