We’re thrilled to be opening the newest Assemble coworking location in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood in February. The new location is on 1720 West Division Street, close to the Division Blue line stop. The first floor of the building is the home of a new Foxtrot location as well.
Here are some reasons why we think Wicker Park will be a great place for you to work.
For those who want to ditch their home office, commuting downtown may not be too enticing. Fighting for a spot on the train or sitting in traffic during rush hour can take away from your productivity. Assemble’s new Wicker Park location is just steps from the Division blue line stop. While others are taking the train towards the city, you could be taking it the opposite direction to Assemble. The close proximity to downtown and other popular neighborhood makes it a great option for those who want convenience, but don’t need to be in the Loop.
For those living in Wicker Park, Bucktown and nearby neighborhoods, there have been very few options when it comes to flexible office space. Assemble’s new location offers a number of offices that can accommodate 1-10 employees. If you’re an entrepreneur or a part of a small business and you live in the neighborhood, you’ll find the perfect work environment at Assemble.
Assemble members get complimentary access to all of our locations. Book a free conference room in the West Loop with a client located there or coworkers out of Minneapolis while you’re there on a business trip. Being an Assemble member gives you flexibility and convenience when you need it.
Wicker Park is home to many of Chicago’s favorite restaurants, bars and clubs. Grab lunch with coworkers at Smoke Daddy (across the street from Assemble) or catch a concert at Subterranean after work.

Here’s what they say about Assemble:
“OKW Architects (designer of Eataly) created this workspace. Assemble has co-working spaces in the West Loop and in the Gold Coast/Old Town, and a location in Wicker Park is scheduled to open in November. Membership provides access to all. The West Loop space is Assemble’s biggest, at 14,000 square feet and 50 offices. The dog-friendly loft has a cozy feeling, with brick columns and wooden tables. Bike storage, conference room access, coffee and snacks, 24-hour access and weekly networking events are included.”
Our Wicker Park location is scheduled to open in January!
DNAInfo recently published an article on Assemble’s newest location in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. The article includes some information on the 1720 W Division Street building, which was previously owned by sculpture Giovanni “John” Desiderio Bucci.
Assemble Co-Founder Phil Domenico is quoted saying, “Every year we are growing. When we asked our members where to go next, they said Wicker Park and Lincoln Park and we were fortunate to have found this building.”
We’re thrilled to announce Assemble’s new location in Chicago’s Wicker Park location. Our third Chicago shared office space is expected to open in January 2018.
Assemble is partnering with Jenel Management out of New York to create over 18,000 SF of shared office space on floors two and three of the building. The location will also include over 8,000 SF of restaurant/retail space on the ground floor.
Kerry Butz is Assemble’s new community manager at our Chicago West Loop coworking space. We’re thrilled for her to be a part of the team. We asked Kerry to answer a few questions to help our community get to know her a little better. Below are her answers!
I enjoy getting to know people and helping make connections between either people or businesses. In addition to that, each day at Assemble is different. I like that my job wouldn’t be monotonous or repetitive day by day.
I was raised in the surburbs of Chicago and I live in a different suburb now than I grew up in. I live in Arlington Heights – city dwellers may know about it just for the horse race track that is owned by the same people that own Churchill Downs. Anytime anyone is in the area to place bets at Arlington Park – give me a ring! I live down the street.
When I’m not working, I like to get together with my friends and family for themed parties. Also, I enjoy a good afternoon on the couch binging on Netflix or Hulu shows. In the fall I live for college football!
In my previous roles I’ve worn many hats – accountant, lobbyist, educator, philanthropist, grant solicitor… I have planned more events, organized more casual fun parties, and networked my way through more businesses and politicians than I care to count… but it’s always fun when I get to meet new people, get to learn about them, and enhance their personal or business experience.
Even though I’m not in Minneapolis, I do LOVE The Brit Pub there! (Fun fact: they accept the Pound Sterling as payment on their bills.) In Chicago… man… I frequent either one of the Elephant & Castle locations for happy hours with my friends, I love doing wine and cheese plates at Bin 36 (also in the West Loop), and I’m always up for a good hole-in-the-wall place that my friends suggest like the Sidestreet Saloon in Lakeview.
Vanessa Martinson is the new community manager at Assemble’s Minneapolis coworking space. We’re excited to have her as part of the team! We asked Vanessa a few questions to help you get to know her a little better.
I have always wanted a career that allows me to be social and involved in marketing and events. This position is the best of all three! After seeing the space and meeting the people I knew it was where I wanted to work every day and I have loved it ever since.
I was raised in Minnetonka, MN and now live in Uptown Minneapolis.
I enjoy hanging out with friends, watching Netflix, exploring new places and trying new food (and eating a lot of it).
I have many years of experience in the service industry that allows me to be very accommodating, working in recruiting allowed me to know all kinds of positions and companies as well as gain contacts in the Minneapolis area. I worked at a large event center previously as a marketing assistant as well assisting with all kinds of event planning from concerts and sporting events to expos and wedding receptions.
That’s a tough one! As I mentioned, I love food and am always trying new places. But my “go to” restaurants I get most frequently are probably Lake & Irving and Wakame (I LOVE sushi) both in Uptown.
Last Thursday Assemble Minneapolis member WeCo held an event for their grand opening at Assemble and a public awareness event in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, which is this month. Here are some photos from the event.
Assemble was recently named one of the top 5 coworking spaces in Chicago. Their article says, “We did some research and identified the 5 most exciting coworking spaces in the city. If you’re in Chicago or hiring a remote employee, we recommend you check out these offices. They might be just what you’re looking for.”
They write about Assemble, “The month-to-month lease ensures that your office space can grow as quickly as your company does. There is also no long-term commitment. The free conference rooms are a nice perk too!”
Stacklist is a web site that was formed last year. The web site curates the best business tools for startups based on hundreds of interviews with the smartest entrepreneurs.
We’re thrilled to welcome Kendra Sandsmark as the new community manager at our Chicago West Loop location. We thought it’d be a good idea to let Kendra tell everyone a little bit about herself through the blog. Check out her answers to a few questions below. Be sure to introduce yourself the next time you’re at the Chicago West Loop space!
I was looking for a career change since I was in luxury retail management for the last 13 years. I love supporting my team and helping them with their daily needs so they can succeed. I am fascinated by the shared office structure and love that this office has many unique and amazing companies. I am also fascinated by weekends. What are they? What do you do on weekends? I love the schedule!
I was raised in Baltimore, Maryland and came to Chicago many moons ago to attend The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I have been here ever since, and love this town!
I like to spend time catching up with friends, and entertaining at my new condo. I also love designing wedding invitations in my spare time.
My work background is in customer service, sales and support. Being in retail, the customer always comes first, and this means the Assemble member is my first priority. The Assemble family is my new team!
Wait, do I have to pick a favorite? My favorite two bars would be Fox Bar at Soho House, and Lost Lake. My favorite restaurant, is actually not in Chicago! It is called Sketch, and it is one of the most unique spots in London. I dream about this place!
